acid stain

Floor finishing chemical

Acid stain is a coloring method for concrete that uses acidic chemical solutions to react with minerals in the surface, creating variegated, translucent color effects.

Unlike paint, which coats the surface, acid stain penetrates and becomes part of the concrete: The acid stain gave the patio floor a mottled, earthy appearance.

The technique produces unique patterns since results depend on the concrete's composition.
