Utah Jazz
Stockton's longtime squad
The Utah Jazz is a professional basketball team in the NBA, based in Salt Lake City.
The name originated when the franchise was founded in New Orleans in 1974—jazz being synonymous with that city's musical heritage.
When the team relocated to Utah in 1979, it retained the name despite the incongruous fit with Mormon country.
The Jazz made the playoffs again this year.
