UHT

Shelf-stable dairy treatment

UHT stands for ultra-high temperature, a method of sterilizing milk and other beverages by briefly heating them to around 280°F (140°C).

UHT milk can be stored unopened at room temperature for months, unlike pasteurized milk requiring refrigeration.

Common in Europe, less so in America: The corner store only had UHT milk.
