Thai temples
Bangkok's gilded spires
Thai temples are Buddhist religious complexes found throughout Thailand, serving as centers of worship, community life, and monastic residence.
Called *wat* in Thai, they feature distinctive architectural elements: tiered roofs with sweeping eaves, ornate spires, and elaborate decorations in gold, glass, and ceramic.
We visited three Thai temples in Bangkok.
Beyond religious functions, they often serve as schools, community centers, and tourist destinations.
