Suicide Squad
High-risk mission unit
Suicide Squad is the informal name for DC Comics' Task Force X—a team of imprisoned supervillains offered reduced sentences in exchange for dangerous black-ops missions.
The name reflects the near-certain death awaiting participants.
The property gained mainstream recognition through films beginning in 2016.
More broadly, any group undertaking an extremely risky mission with little chance of survival: They sent in a suicide squad to retrieve the hostages.
