Spanish bullfighting
Iberian toreador spectacle
Spanish bullfighting is the traditional spectacle in which a matador confronts and kills a bull in an arena.
The event follows a ritualized sequence: picadors on horseback weaken the bull with lances, banderilleros plant barbed sticks in its shoulders, and the matador performs passes with a cape before delivering the final sword thrust.
Supporters call it art; opponents call it cruelty.
The practice remains legal in Spain but faces growing opposition and regional bans.
