capote
Matador's magenta cloth
A capote is a long hooded cloak, historically worn in Europe and by French-Canadian voyageurs.
The word also names the red cape a matador uses in bullfighting, particularly the larger one used in early stages before switching to the smaller muleta.
The matador swirled his capote to draw the bull past him. (Capitalized Capote refers to the American writer.)
