Atlanta hip-hop style
Southern rap is hip-hop music originating from the American South, particularly Atlanta, Houston, Memphis, Miami, and New Orleans.
It emerged in the late 1980s and became commercially dominant by the 2000s.
The style encompasses diverse subgenres—crunk, trap, bounce, chopped and screwed—but generally features slower tempos, heavy bass, and regional slang.
