Southern Lights
Polar radiance below
The Southern Lights are the aurora australis—luminous bands and curtains of colored light visible in the night sky near the South Pole.
Like their northern counterpart, they result from charged solar particles colliding with atmospheric gases.
We traveled to New Zealand hoping to catch the Southern Lights.
