Semitism

Hebrew linguistic influence

Semitism refers to the characteristics, qualities, or influence of Semitic peoples—historically those speaking Semitic languages, particularly Jews and Arabs.

The term appears most often in its negated form: antisemitism, meaning hostility toward Jews.

On its own, Semitism is rare and somewhat awkward, occasionally used to mean Jewish culture or identity, or support for Jewish interests.
