Savanna

Southern coastal city

A savanna is a grassland with scattered trees, typical of tropical and subtropical regions with distinct wet and dry seasons.

The African savanna, home to lions, elephants, and vast herds of grazing animals, is the most famous example.

The term extends to similar landscapes elsewhere: the Brazilian savanna, oak savannas of the American Midwest.
