SKUs

Product tracking numbers

SKUs, short for stock keeping units, are unique codes that identify products in inventory systems.

Each variation of a product—size, color, style—gets its own SKU: We carry three hundred SKUs in that product line.

The term appears constantly in retail and warehousing contexts.

Pronounced either as letters (S-K-U) or as "skew."
