Quaalude

Seventies party pill

Quaalude is a brand name for methaqualone, a sedative-hypnotic drug popular in the 1970s and early 1980s as a recreational downer.

Users sought its euphoric, disinhibiting effects, making it notorious as a party drug and date-rape tool.

Now banned in most countries, Quaaludes survive mainly in nostalgic references to that era: He talked about Quaaludes like they were the glory days of getting high.
