Proud Mary
Rolling river vessel
Proud Mary is the title of a 1969 Creedence Clearwater Revival song about leaving troubles behind for a simpler life on a riverboat.
The phrase has become shorthand for freedom, escape, or rolling along unbothered: She quit her corporate job and went full Proud Mary.
Tina Turner's 1971 cover made the song iconic in its own right.
