Project MKUltra
Government mind control
Project MKUltra was a covert CIA program running from the 1950s to early 1970s that conducted experiments on human subjects to develop mind control techniques.
Researchers tested psychoactive drugs—especially LSD—along with hypnosis, sensory deprivation, and psychological torture, often without subjects' knowledge or consent.
The program became public in 1975 during congressional investigations.
MKUltra now serves as shorthand for government overreach and secret experimentation: Every conspiracy theory eventually invokes MKUltra.
