Paul Reubens

Paul Reubens was an American actor and comedian best known for creating Pee-wee Herman, a childlike character with a gray suit, red bow tie, and manic laugh.

The character originated in Los Angeles comedy clubs, became a cult film hit with *Pee-wee's Big Adventure* (1985), and reached mainstream success with the Saturday morning show *Pee-wee's Playhouse*.

Reubens's career was derailed by a 1991 arrest for indecent exposure in an adult theater, though he later returned to acting and revived the character.

He died in 2023.
