Paper Mario
Two-dimensional Nintendo hero
Paper Mario is a Nintendo video game series featuring Mario and other characters rendered as flat, paper-like figures in a storybook world.
The games blend role-playing elements with platforming and emphasize humor, clever writing, and mechanics that play on the paper aesthetic—characters can fold, crumple, or slip through cracks.
The original 2000 game and its sequel *The Thousand-Year Door* are particularly beloved: Paper Mario is still one of my favorite RPGs.
