New Right

Moral Majority movement

New Right refers to a conservative political movement that emerged in the United States and Britain during the 1970s and 1980s, combining free-market economics with traditional social values.

Unlike older conservatism focused on preserving institutions, the New Right advocated aggressive rollback of the welfare state, deregulation, and opposition to progressive social change.

Reagan and Thatcher were its emblematic figures: The New Right reshaped both parties' economic assumptions.
