Neutral Zone
Demilitarized buffer region
The Neutral Zone is a boundary region in the Star Trek universe, typically separating Federation space from hostile powers like the Romulan Empire or Klingon Empire.
Crossing it without authorization is considered an act of war: The Enterprise was ordered not to enter the Neutral Zone.
The concept has become shorthand for any forbidden border area. (Lowercase neutral zone is the general term.)
