Neue Deutsche Welle

Teutonic new wave

Neue Deutsche Welle (German for "New German Wave") was a German pop and rock movement of the late 1970s and early 1980s, characterized by synthesizers, ironic lyrics, and New Wave aesthetics.

The style ranged from punk-influenced underground acts to polished pop hits like Nena's "99 Luftballons." Often abbreviated NDW.
