McBurney's point
Appendix tenderness location
McBurney's point is a spot on the lower right abdomen, about one-third of the way from the hip bone to the navel, where pressure produces maximum tenderness in acute appendicitis.
Named for American surgeon Charles McBurney, it remains a standard diagnostic landmark: The patient winced when I pressed McBurney's point.
