Lingnan culture
Pearl River heritage
Lingnan culture is the regional culture of southern China's Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hainan provinces—historically the area south of the Nanling Mountains.
It encompasses Cantonese language and cuisine, Cantonese opera, distinctive architecture with open courtyards suited to subtropical climate, and traditions shaped by maritime trade and distance from northern Chinese centers.
The museum's exhibit on Lingnan culture featured ink wash paintings of misty mountains and sampan boats.
