La Tène culture
Iron Age Europeans
La Tène culture is an Iron Age Celtic civilization that flourished in central Europe from roughly 450 BCE until Roman conquest.
Named for an archaeological site in Switzerland, it succeeded the earlier Hallstatt culture and spread across much of western and central Europe.
La Tène peoples are known for their distinctive curvilinear art style, skilled metalwork, and the expansion of Celtic languages and customs that Romans later encountered in Gaul, Britain, and Iberia.
