Karen Carpenter
Karen Carpenter (1950–1983) was an American singer and drummer whose contralto voice defined the soft rock duo the Carpenters.
With her brother Richard, she recorded hits like "Close to You" and "We've Only Just Begun." Her death from heart failure related to anorexia nervosa brought unprecedented attention to eating disorders: Karen Carpenter's death changed how people talked about anorexia.
