Internet cafés
Pay-per-hour browsing
Internet cafés are establishments where customers pay to use computers with Internet access, typically by the hour.
They flourished in the 1990s and early 2000s before smartphones and widespread home broadband made them largely obsolete in wealthy countries.
They remain common in developing regions where personal Internet access is less universal.
Also called cybercafés.
