Instamatic

Sixties snapshot maker

Instamatic is a Kodak trademark for a line of simple, affordable cameras introduced in 1963, designed for casual snapshots with minimal technical knowledge.

The name suggests instant photography made automatic.

By extension, instamatic sometimes describes any basic point-and-shoot camera or, figuratively, something requiring no skill: instamatic poetry that writes itself.
