Hurricane Andrew
Devastating Florida cyclone
Hurricane Andrew was a Category 5 Atlantic hurricane that devastated South Florida in August 1992, causing over $27 billion in damage and killing 65 people.
It remains one of the costliest natural disasters in U.S. history.
The storm's destruction led to major reforms in building codes and emergency management: The neighborhood never fully recovered after Andrew.
