Haworth projection
Ring structure drawing
A Haworth projection is a way of representing the three-dimensional structure of ring-shaped sugar molecules on a flat page.
The ring is drawn as a thickened polygon viewed from the side, with groups attached above or below the plane to show their spatial arrangement.
Named for British chemist Norman Haworth, these diagrams are standard in biochemistry for depicting glucose, fructose, and other cyclic carbohydrates.
