HPV testing
Checks for papillomavirus
HPV testing is a medical screening procedure that detects the presence of human papillomavirus, particularly high-risk strains that can cause cervical cancer.
Unlike a Pap smear, which looks for abnormal cells, HPV testing identifies the virus itself.
The two tests are often performed together: Her doctor recommended HPV testing along with her regular Pap.
