Gunga Din
Gunga Din is a fictional Indian water-bearer in Rudyard Kipling's 1890 poem of the same name, celebrated for his bravery and loyalty to British soldiers despite their abuse.
The poem's closing line—You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din—became a cultural catchphrase acknowledging someone's superior character or courage, often said with grudging admiration.
