Gainsborough

Gainsborough is a market town in Lincolnshire, England, on the River Trent.

The name more often refers to Thomas Gainsborough (1727–1788), the English portrait and landscape painter known for works like *The Blue Boy* and *Mr and Mrs Andrews*.

His style influenced generations of British painters: a Gainsborough portrait, very Gainsborough in its treatment of light.
