closed source
Hidden programming instructions
Closed source describes software whose underlying code is kept secret by its owner, preventing users from viewing, modifying, or redistributing it.
The opposite of open source.
Most commercial software is closed source—you can use the program but can't see how it works: Microsoft Windows is closed source.
