Controversial energy alcohol
Four Loko is a brand of caffeinated alcoholic beverage sold in tall, brightly colored cans, notorious for its high alcohol content and association with blackouts and emergency room visits.
The original formula combined malt liquor with caffeine and other stimulants, masking intoxication until users were dangerously drunk.
After regulatory pressure in 2010, the caffeine was removed, but the name remains synonymous with cheap, reckless drinking: We got Four Lokos and things got out of hand.
