FIR
Initial crime report
A fir is an evergreen conifer with soft, flat needles and upright cones that disintegrate on the tree rather than falling whole.
Firs are widely used as Christmas trees and valued for timber.
The word distinguishes these trees from pines and spruces, though all three are often loosely called "evergreens" or "conifers": a stand of Douglas fir, the balsam fir's fragrant branches.
