Edward Elgar
Edward Elgar was an English composer of the late Romantic era, best known for the *Pomp and Circumstance* marches—one of which became the graduation processional standard in American schools.
His *Enigma Variations* and cello concerto remain orchestral staples.
Elgar was the first major English composer since Purcell to gain international recognition.
