Dr. Manhattan

Dr.

Manhattan is a fictional character from the graphic novel *Watchmen*, a godlike being with power over matter and time who perceives past, present, and future simultaneously.

His detachment from humanity despite his origins as a human scientist makes him a symbol of alienation that comes with transcendence.

In casual use, comparing someone to Dr.

Manhattan suggests emotional distance or an inability to relate to ordinary human concerns: He's gone full Dr. Manhattan since the promotion.
