Dixie flag
Rebel states' emblem
The Dixie flag is the Confederate battle flag—a blue X with white stars on a red field.
It was carried by Southern forces in the American Civil War and later became a symbol of Southern heritage, states' rights, or white supremacy, depending on who displays it and who views it.
Dixie flag bumper stickers proliferated after desegregation.
The flag remains deeply divisive: some see regional pride, others see racism.
