Disney adaptation
Family-friendly film version
A Disney adaptation is a retelling of existing source material—fairy tales, novels, myths—reshaped to fit Disney's family-friendly aesthetic.
The term often carries a note of criticism, implying the original's darker or more complex elements have been sanitized: The movie is basically a Disney adaptation of the revolution—all the violence scrubbed out.
Something given the Disney adaptation treatment has been made palatable but perhaps less honest.
