Dirty Dozen

Misfit soldier squad

The Dirty Dozen refers to any list of twelve notorious, problematic, or essential items.

The phrase gained currency from the 1967 war film about twelve military convicts recruited for a suicide mission.

It now commonly labels lists of pesticide-heavy produce, tax scams flagged by the IRS, or troublesome players in sports: The strawberries are on the Dirty Dozen list again.
