Towering layered sandwich
A Dagwood is a towering, multilayered sandwich stuffed with whatever ingredients are available—meats, cheeses, vegetables, condiments piled high between slices of bread.
The term comes from Dagwood Bumstead, the comic strip character in *Blondie* who raids the refrigerator to construct such sandwiches: He made himself a Dagwood with everything in the fridge.
