DUI checkpoint
Roadside intoxication screening
A DUI checkpoint is a roadblock where police stop vehicles to check drivers for intoxication.
Officers typically stop every car or every nth car, asking brief questions and watching for signs of impairment—slurred speech, alcohol odor, bloodshot eyes.
Also called a sobriety checkpoint.
We hit a DUI checkpoint on the way home from the party.
