DNF

Quit before finishing

DNF stands for "did not finish," used when someone fails to complete a race, competition, or other undertaking.

Common in motorsports, marathons, and video game speedrunning: She DNF'd at mile twenty due to a knee injury.

Online, DNF often describes abandoning a book partway through: I had to DNF—the writing was unbearable.
