Cumberland Valley
Appalachian Pennsylvania lowland
Cumberland Valley refers to a long, fertile valley in the Appalachian region, stretching from south-central Pennsylvania through Maryland into Virginia and West Virginia.
The valley follows the Great Appalachian Valley system between the Blue Ridge and Allegheny mountains.
Historically significant as a route for westward migration and Civil War campaigns, it remains known for agriculture and scenic beauty: We drove through the Cumberland Valley on our way to Gettysburg.
