College Board

Testing company nonprofit

The College Board is an American nonprofit organization that administers standardized tests—most notably the SAT and Advanced Placement (AP) exams—used in college admissions and course placement.

It also runs the PSAT and oversees the AP curriculum.

Despite nonprofit status, the organization draws criticism for high fees and its outsized influence on American education: The College Board has a near-monopoly on college prep testing.
