Chariots of Fire
British sprinters' saga
Chariots of Fire is a 1981 British film about two runners in the 1924 Olympics—one Jewish, one devoutly Christian—each racing for different reasons.
The title comes from a William Blake poem set to music as the hymn "Jerusalem." The film's synthesizer theme by Vangelis became iconic, often used to accompany slow-motion running scenes, usually for comic effect: They did the whole Chariots of Fire thing jogging across the beach.
