Canadian territories
Yukon and neighbors
Canadian territories are the three northern administrative divisions of Canada—Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut—that differ from provinces in having less autonomy and receiving their governmental powers from the federal government rather than the constitution.
Together they cover about 40 percent of Canada's land mass but contain less than one percent of its population.
The territories are characterized by Arctic and subarctic climates, sparse settlement, and significant Indigenous populations.
