Bing cherry
Sweet crimson fruit
A Bing cherry is a variety of sweet cherry with dark red, almost purple-black skin and firm, juicy flesh.
It's the most common sweet cherry sold in the United States, prized for eating fresh: The Bing cherries are finally in season.
Named after a Chinese orchard worker in Oregon who helped develop the variety in the 1870s.
