Bavarian Alps
Southern German peaks
The Bavarian Alps are the portion of the Northern Limestone Alps lying within Bavaria, Germany's southernmost state.
They form the border with Austria and include Germany's highest peak, the Zugspitze.
The region is known for alpine villages, ski resorts, and dramatic mountain scenery: We spent a week hiking in the Bavarian Alps.
