Asian squat

Heels-down resting position

The Asian squat is a deep squatting position with feet flat on the ground and buttocks nearly touching the heels, common as a resting posture throughout Asia.

The name reflects that many Westerners lack the ankle flexibility to maintain this position comfortably: He dropped into an Asian squat while waiting for the bus.

Also called a deep squat or flat-footed squat.
