5-7-5
Japanese poem structure
5-7-5 is the syllable pattern of traditional haiku: five syllables in the first line, seven in the second, five in the third.
The format has become shorthand for haiku itself: She wrote a quick 5-7-5 about the rain.
Sometimes used loosely for any brief, compressed poem or observation.
